Obituary

On Sunday, October 19, 2025, David D. Dantzler, of Coatesville, PA, passed away at Paoli Hospital in Paoli, PA. David was 78 years old.

Born in Coatesville, David was the son of the late David Dantzler, Jr. and Betty Ruth Alston Dantzler. He was affectionately known as " D.D. and Geech" by his family and friends.

A 1966 graduate of Scott Senior High School, David went on to serve his country with honor as a private in the U.S. Army until he was honorably discharged. His contributions were recognized with the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Sharpshooter Medal, reflecting his commitment and skill.

In 1975, David married Bertha Romaine Paskings Dantzler, and together they shared 47 years of marriage until her passing in 2022.

David's career as a Letter Carrier at the US Postal Service in West Chester spanned 35 years. Beyond his professional life, David was a devoted member of Hutchinson UAME Church and the Harmony Masonic Lodge #21, where he formed lasting bonds.

David found joy in shopping and had a deep appreciation for the blues.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bert Dantzler.

David is survived by daughters, Kimberly Bessick (Chandler, Jr.) of North Carolina, Tiana Dantzler of Pittsburgh, Tasha Dantzler-Hoggard (Leroy, Jr.) of Parkesburg, Dana D. Killingsworth (David, Jr.) of Bensalem; 7 grandchildren, Charlesha Cooper, Nyiesha Forte, Niyah Dantzler, Khya Washington, Jabriel Lopez, Destyn Hoggard, and Devon Killingsworth; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Dennis Dantzler of Coatesville; sisters, Betty Wooden (Bland) of Fairburn, Georgia; Roberta Brannon (Leno) of Coatesville, Theresa Dantzler of Columbia, Maryland, Annette Dantzler-Smith of Coatesville; close friends, Alfred Cleveland, John Boyd, Wes Taylor, Jimmy Simmons and Ron Artis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He leaves behind a legacy of service, dedication, and love that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Hutchinson Memorial UAME Church, 825 East Chestnut Street, Coatesville, PA. A viewing will being at 9 AM. A Masonic Ritualistic Service will begin at 10:00 AM.

Interment with full military honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 29th in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, in Annville, PA.
