IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Darien A.
Washington
July 14, 1956 – January 22, 2022
Darien Anthony Washington, 65, of Thorndale, PA, passed away, Saturday, January 22, 2022, at his residence.
Born in Harrisburg, PA, Darien was the son of the late Emory and Delores Gooden Washington. Darien was the husband of Bonnie Gail Johnson-Washington.
Growing up Darien resided in Wallingford, PA with his family. He attended Nether Providence High School where he excelled at baseball and wrestling.
After graduating high school, he attended the Philadelphia College of Art where he studied graphic design.
After college, Darien worked as a manager for Giant food stores for several years. After his stint at Giant, he became employed by Johnson Matthey as a die maker and remained there until he retired.
Darien married Bonnie Johnson on May 13, 2000. They shared two sons, Isaiah and Benjamin. Darien was a loving and devoted husband and father whose whole world revolved around his family.
Darien was very intellectually curious; therefore, he had many interests and hobbies. He was very well-read in history and politics. Nothing got him charged up as much as a good political debate.
Darien enjoyed cooking for his family and he was a wonderful and creative cook. He made sure his sons had a hot meal every morning before school. Darien was also crazy about the blues. His favorite pastime was listening to his favorite blues musician sing his favorite song "I'll play the blues for you."
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Johnson-Washington; sons, Benjamin Washington and Isaiah Washington; siblings: Diane Arthur (Edward) of Michigan, Emory Washington of California, Mala Washington of Wallingford, PA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
