IN LOVING MEMORY OF
D. Barbara
"Denny" Bland-Stelly
February 2, 1944 – January 19, 2024
Our Queen, D. Barbara Bland-Stelly affectionately known as "Denny", was born on February 2, 1944, in Downingtown, PA, to the late Eva C. Trowery Hicks and Harlan G. Wilson, Sr. On January 19, 2024, while surrounded by family, God dispatched his heavenly angels to take her to her heavenly home at the age of 79. Denny was educated in the Downingtown School District. In 1964, she married the late Donald C. "Ducky" Bland, and from that union came three sons and they moved the family to Coatesville, PA.
Denny was built like a goddess and her beauty was flawless. Her fashion sense was creative. She could take anything and make an outfit. Her housekeeping was immaculate. People would show up to her home just to admire her decorative skills which she was well known. With her heart full of gold, she would give the shirt off of her back, and take anyone into her home who was in need. Her culinary skills were as such she could make a whole meal out of flour, eggs, and milk that would leave you wanting more. Denny was a no-nonsense woman and would NOT bite her tongue using words that you couldn't find in any dictionary or encyclopedia. Denny didn't take any mess and would stand her ground with anyone. She also loved to give people nicknames and that name would fit the person to the T.
Being the first family to move to Oak Street Projects (1 Rosemont Court) our Queen would do what was needed to make ends meet to provide for her family. She worked as a bartender, and a hairstylist and sold icebergs just to name a few. In 1988 she moved to Philadelphia, PA, and married her second husband Albert Stelly. While in Philadelphia she was employed for 23 years at JBQC Corp. as head of housekeeping. After her late husband's passing, she returned to Coatesville, PA in 2015 to live with her youngest son LaMonte, and his wife who both provided loving care to their mother until her passing.
D. Barbara "Denny" Bland-Stelly leaves cherished memories of her with her three sons Donald C. Wilson of California; Darren D. Wilson of Oxford, PA and LaMonte A. Wilson, Sr (Catrina) of Coatesville, PA; stepmother, Charlotte Wilson of Coatesville, PA; brother, Harlan G. Wilson, Jr. (Thelma) of Coatesville, PA; sisters, Kimberly Rosier (Gary) of Philadelphia, PA and Pamela Wilson of Coatesville, PA; bonus sisters, Ravona Griffith and Cora Henderson of Coatesville, PA; bonus brothers, Roger Stewart, Carl Stewart, Aubray Stewart (Celeste), Ronald Stewart (Ivette), and Sean Johnson; good friend, Robin Rudolph and over 50 grandchildren; great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and grandsons: LaVoy Wilson, and Denzel Wilson; siblings, George Haze Wilson II, John Paul Wilson, Clarence Morris, Luis Wilson, Harlan Wilson, and Geraldine Wilson.
