Obituary

Cynthia Ann Taltoan, 73, of Coatesville, PA, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 29, 2022.

Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late John Calvin Washington, II and Mildred Long Washington.  Cynthia was the wife of the late Sheldon Taltoan with whom she shared 11 years of marriage until he passed away in 1997.

Cynthia received her early education from the Coatesville area public school district. She was a part of the first class to graduate from Coatesville Area Senior High School in 1968.

While raising a family she worked at Embreeville State Hospital for 19 years; the Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Center for 26 years and the Chester County Assessment office until she retired.

Cynthia enjoyed cooking special Sunday dinners for her family.  She loved entertaining company in her home and enjoyed playing cards. She enjoyed listening to music and was the greatest Earth, Wind & Fire fan ever. She was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan as well. She had a big caring heart for helping others. Most of all, she loved her family, and spending time with her grandkids brought her great joy.

Cynthia will be deeply missed by her children: Herman S. "Buddy" Worthington, Nicole Annette Worthington (Steve), Levi Maurice Worthington, Sr. (Lesha) all of Coatesville, and Sherri L. Taltoan aka "Sher- Bear" of Conyers, GA; 18 grandchildren: Shana Worthington, Annissa Worthington, Hassan Worthington, Brianna Worthington, Laquisha White, LaCoya Worthington, Quaya Worthington, Isaiah Worthington, Levi Worthington, Jr., India Worthington, Melisant Worthington, Calvin John Worthington, Kahlel Trujillo, Kaylah Trujillo, Jayonce McBall, Jamal Nero, Jazaiah Nero, and Journee Nero; 8 great-grandchildren; special friend, Doris Jackson; and friends known as the Golden Girls: Gloria Underdue, Carol Stevens Underdue, Donnie Miles, Laura Dunston and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mildred Washington, John Washington, II; and her husband, Sheldon Taltoan, she was preceded in death by one brother, John Calvin Washington, III; and a sister, Cordelia Washington Johnson.
