It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Curtis “Satch” Newman, Sr., who passed away on June 23, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on December 15, 1957, in Coatesville, PA, Satch lived a life marked by love, kindness, and dedication to his family and friends.
He was known for his sense of humor and touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He worked as a handyman for many years and took great pride in his work. Outside of work, he enjoyed old school music, dee-jaying, cooking on the grill, avid Eagles fan, avid basketball player, and spending time with family and friends.
Above all, he cherished his family. He is survived by his children: Yasenta Newman of Coatesville PA, Clarice Newman of West Grove PA, Curtis Newman, Jr. of New Castle DE, Darnell Newman (Lauren) of Wilmington DE, and Portia Newman of Coatesville PA.
He is also survived by grandchildren: Donyjah, Nasir, and Iysis Wilson of Coatesville PA, Tyler and Olivia Newman of West Grove, PA, Tekeira, Keysha, Davonte, and Zyaira Robinson of Coatesville PA, Dominic Campbell of West Grove PA, and Zendaya and Stiles Newman of Wilmington, DE; great grandchildren: Iy’Lani Wilson of Coatesville PA, Ramiyah and Aurora Robinson of Coatesville PA; siblings: Quanna Newman Crews of Lancaster PA, Elizabeth Newman of Coatesville PA, Cathy Wilson of Bishopville SC, Lonnie Bowman (Becky) of Coatesville PA, Timothy Bowman of Coatesville PA, James Bowman of Philadelphia PA, Starynn Gant (John) of South Coatesville PA, Jane Bowman of Parkesburg PA, Randee Coleman (Carlisle) of Philadelphia PA and a host of nieces and nephews and many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Beverly Joan Newman and James (Jim) Bowman; grandparents, Mary and Jimmy Hyden; brothers, Theodore Newman and Barry Crews, and a nephew, Jajuan Long.
His memory will live on through the love he shared, the lessons he taught, and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 107 South 17th Avenue, Coatesville, PA. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation from 10 am to 11 am.
