Obituary

Constance D. Carr, "Connie", 90, of West Chester, PA, passed away after a lengthy illness. Tuesday, April 10, 2018, surrounded by her family, at the Pocopson Home in West Chester, PA.

Born in West Chester, she was the daughter of the late Carl Ellis Durnell, Sr. and Anna Marie (Beckett) Finney.

She was the wife of the late Chauncey D. Carr.

She worked in the Housekeeping Department at West Chester University for 15 years.

Since 1964, she was an original member of Mt. Carmel C.O.G.I.C. in West Chester where she served on the Missionary Board.

Connie enjoyed baseball, football, gardening, ice fishing, and cooking. She had a love for animals. Always had a fish tank in her home.

Constance is survived by two sons, Silas (Antionette) Mack, Jr. of West Chester, PA; James Edward (Tonya) Harris of Downingtown, PA; four daughters, Margaret Ann (Carl) Lawrence, Willie Mae Barton, Ellen Louise Harris, Mary Ann Harris all of Coatesville.

She is also survived by a sister, Armenta Adger of Harrisburg PA; grandchildren whom she raised, Paula R. Mack, Omar Harris, Gary Mack; Jackie Al-Amin whom she called daughter; uncles, Alan Thomas of West Chester, Phil Durnell of West Chester and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by sons, Carl Ellis Mack, Robert S. Harris; grandson, Silas Mack, III; brothers, Carl Durnell, Donald Durnell, Robert Durnell, Alphonso Durnell, Louis E. John; daughter, Constance Marie Mack; sisters, Leah Durnell, Hazel Durnell, Florence Durnell, and Earlene Collins.

Services will be held at 3:30 PM on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Mount Carmel C.O.G.I.C., 628 East Miner Street in West Chester, PA. Viewing begins at 1:30 PM. Interment will be held 11 AM on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA..

Flowers can be sent to the church on the service day. The theme color is lavender. Condolences for the family can be shared on the guest book. All are welcomed to light a candle or share a photo in her memory.
