Clifford Reginald Hammond Sr. went home to be with the Lord on September 3, 2013. Clifford affectionately called "Gink", was born to the late Robert Charles Hammond and Elizabeth Jones Hammond on October 18, 1947.
Clifford was a 1968 graduate of Coatesville Area High School. Upon graduating he began working in maintenance for UPS in West Chester for 42 years until he retired.
Clifford met Brenda Jackson who he married on June 18, 1968. They had three children, Carla, Clifford, Jr. and James and shared 45 years of marriage.
Clifford has been the Elder at the Church of Christ in Ercidoun, Pa. for the past 6 years.
He was a hard worker and had a disciplined work ethic. After his retirement, he spent time mowing lawns and taking care of the church grounds.
He enjoyed collecting knives, swords and remote-controlled cars. He was a fun loving person who loved to laugh and joke. Though he may be funny at times, he was very serious when it came to the Word of God. He would proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to anyone.
He leaves to cherished memories to his beloved wife, Brenda, and three children: Carla (Bill) Jones of Coatesville, Clifford Hammond, Jr. of Coatesville, James R. Hammond of Coatesville; one brother, Harold Hammond of Coatesville, two sisters, Marie Hammond Brickus of West Chester, Patricia Miller of Lancaster. He also leaves nine grandchildren: Jasmin, Michael, Alexus, Traè, Devon, Derric, Mya, Myles, and James; 2 great-grandchildren: Malakhi and Sèanie; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Hammond.
Clifford was a faithful servant who lived for the Lord. Though we will miss his presence and his laughter, we take joy in knowing that he is present with the Lord.
