Obituary

Clarence Carson, 83, of West Chester, passed away Monday, December 26, 2022, at the Pocopson Home, West Chester, PA.

Born in West Chester, PA, Clarence was the youngest child of the late Lillian Carson Lockman. He grew up in Kennett Square, attending the special needs classes at Unionville schools, then later moved to Avondale School, then Coatesville Intermediate Unit. If you knew Clarence, you knew he enjoyed the attention given to him by the Police & Fire departments. They always made time to make him feel special.

Clarence was a people person and a Philadelphia Eagles fan.  He had a friendly personality. He enjoyed listening to gospel music, playing the harmonica and loved cutting grass.  He was an usher at Second Baptist in Kennett Square. When he greeted you, he was known to always say, "You look nice."

Clarence had been a resident of Pocopson Home for the past 19 years.

While he was there, his brother William "Billy" Lockman and Billy's significant other, Margaret "Peggy" McWilliams watched over him until Billy passed away.  After that, his niece, Chantay Lockman continued overseeing his care, celebrated holidays and birthdays with him and took him on picnics with the help of her family.

He will be deeply missed.

Clarence is survived by his last living cousin Margaret Hall of Kennett Square and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his mother, Clarence was preceded in death by all of his siblings: Walter Lockman, William Lockman, Mary Lockman and Edna Mae Carson.

Interment will be held privately.
