Charles "Charlie" Corbitt, was born July 14,1925 in Orangeburg ,South Carolina. In 1943 Charles enlisted in the United States Navy. During his service time he received ribbons for the Philippine Liberation, the Pacific Theater, the American Theater and a Victory medal. He worked as a cement mason for most of his life only retiring at age 92.

He is survived by his wife Geneva Newby; sons Charles Corbitt Jr. (Linda) and Vincent M. Corbitt (Vanessa); grandson Charles Corbitt III; great grandaugther, Kyra .  brother, Thomas James Corbitt and sister, Sallie Mae Corbitt; his wife's son,Kotiiri Newby, Sr. (Sherrion), and grandchildren who he adored: Kotiiri Newby Jr., Deena Newby, Bryant Newby, Renee, Chana, Ronnie (deceased) and Demetrius as well as a large group of close friends and relatives, neighbors and church family.

Services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Love Missionary Baptist Church, 5801 Ogontz Ave.Philadelphia, PA 19191 with a viewing beginning at 8 AM.

Interment will be held in Northwood Cemetery,Philadelphia, PA. Flowers can be sent to the church on the day of the service.  Condolences for the family can be shared here at the online guestbook.
