Charles C. Boyd, Sr., 81, of Coatesville, passed away, July 3, 2013 at the Lifecare Hospital in West Chester.

Born in Parkesburg, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mabel Martin Boyd. He was the husband of Alberta Perry Boyd with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.

He attended the James Adams School and was a 1950 graduate of Scott High School.

Charles was employed at Lukens Steel for 43 years until he retired in 1994.

He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Coatesville and the Delaware Chester and Adjoining Counties Baptist Sunday School Union.

Charles was an avid sports fan who enjoyed fishing, cooking and spending time with his grandchildren and great grands.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Diane Boyd of Coatesville; two sons, Charles C. Boyd, Jr. of Coatesville and Michael Wilson of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Helen (Doc) Meeks of Thorndale and Susie Mason of Newark, NJ.; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren other relatives and friends.

Services will be held 11am, Thursday, July 11, at Hutchinson UAME Church, 825 Chestnut St, Coatesville, with a viewing beginning at 9 a.m.
