Deaconess Carolyn E. Buchanan, 64, of Coatesville, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2011, at Phoenixville Hospital.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Claude Edwards, Sr., and Edith Herdon Edwards. Raised in Coatesville she attended the Historical James Adams School and graduated from S. Horace Scott High School.

She had been employed in dietetic services at the Coatesville VA Hospital for over 37 years.

Carolyn was a member of Holy Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, where she served as Deaconess, President of the Pastor's Aide and sang in the choir.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children Evangelist Alicia M Buchanan, Raymond M. Buchanan, Jr. and Robert J. Buchanan all of Coatesville; five brothers, Jackie (Alisha) Edwards, Deacon David (Evang. Tariya) Edwards both of Downingtown, Claude Edwards Jr., Deacon Kevin (Evang. Virginia) Edwards and  Trustee Eric Edwards all Coatesville; three sisters, Deaconess Delores (Edward) Boggs, Brenda Edwards, Deaconess Donna (John) Tate all of Coatesville, 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, Ursula Buchanan who was like a daughter and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be held at 11 am, Friday, June 24, at Holy Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, 533 Coates Street in Coatesville, with a viewing beginning at 9 am.

Interment will be in New Evergreen Cemetery, Coatesville.
