Byron Christopher Pooler, 57, of Bowie, Maryland passed away at the Doctors Community Hospital, Lanham, MD, on the morning of January 2, 2021 after a lengthy illness.
Affectionally known as "Chris" or "Tea Bag", he was born to Susanne Brown Pooler and the late Henry Pooler on April 26, 1963 in Coatesville, PA.
Chris went to Coatesville Public Schools and graduated from CASH High School in 1981. He attended Howard University. He was especially known for sending handmade cards to his family and friends.
Chris was an avid sports fan, and always cheered for the 76ers basketball and the Eagles football teams. He was known to be an amateur sports analyst. He watched sports 24/7.
At an early age he attended his late grandmother, Gladys Pooler and grandfather, Bishop Clarence Pooler's Church of Deliverance in Downingtown, PA.
Chris leaves cherished memories to his mother, Susanne Pooler-Johnson of Bowie, MD; a sister, Missy (Gladys) Pooler Tucker of Bowie, MD; two brothers, Roger Steward and Troy London both of Coatesville, PA, aunts: Retha Pooler, Coatesville, PA, Cassandra Pryor of West Virginia, Jovenia Washington-Brown of Coatesville, PA; special adopted aunt, Teresa Jones of Jacksonville, FL; uncles: Maxie (Shirley) Pooler, Ronald (Crystal) Pooler and Stewart Pooler all of Baltimore, MD; godfather, Nathan R. Bookman, Sr.; two goddaughters, Talisha Hills, Chavon Bell; step-sister, Karen J. Carter of Los Angeles, CA; step-brother, Richard C. Johnson, Jr. of West Chester, PA. and a host of nephews, nieces and a host of cousins and friends.
Besides his father and paternal grandparents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Kathryn Tinson Brown; stepfather, Richard C. Johnson; aunts, Barbara Brown Pelzer, Vera Brown Anderson; uncles: Walter Anderson, John Christopher "Toast" Brown, Jr., Thomas Clayton "Chicken" Brown; and godmother Brenda K. Bookman.
A Walk-Thru viewing will be held 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at the Wright Funeral Home, 725 Merchant Street, Coatesville, PA. Due to the current Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions, funeral service will be held privately for the immediate family only.
Interment will be held in Rolling Green Memorial Park, West Chester, PA.
Flowers can be sent to the funeral home on the day of the service.
