Obituary

Beverly Ann Griffy Harclerode, 83, of Coatesville, PA passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia.

Born in Parkesburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Henry Dickerson, Clara Griffy Harris and William June Harris. She was the wife of the late Robert Harclerode.

Beverly was employed as a supervisor in the treasury department for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for many years.

She was a vibrant soul, who lived her life with a joy that was contagious to all who knew her. Her passion for traveling led her to the beautiful shores of Jamaica, Aruba, and Nassau, where she embraced the cultures and landscapes with open arms.

She was a woman of many talents, she found solace in her garden, tending to her plants and vegetables with a tender hand. She had a creative spirit was vividly evident through her drawing and sketching. Music and dance were her life's rhythm, with James Brown's beats often filling her home, "Yakety Yak" being her all-time favorite tune. She carried the tradition of singing Christmas carols around the neighborhood, spreading cheer and warmth during the festive season.

A master in the kitchen, she cooked with love, her specialties being chicken, fish, and a renowned potato salad that became the highlight of many family gatherings. Her baking was a testament to her warmth, with sand cookies and 7-up cake being cherished treats among friends and family.

Beverly will be deeply missed by her son, Tyrone Maurice Williams (Tennille Bunch) of Coatesville; step-daughter, Lisa Harclerode-Alridge (Butch) of Harrisburg; 4 grandkids, Quinessa Brown (Jarred Clinton), Candice Folks of Coatesville, Tyrone Folks of Houston, TX, Amara Williams of Coatesville, Terrell Foster of Harrisburg; great-grandchildren, Cyncere Brown-Bell, Jerimiah Brown-Bell, Jabari Clinton and Jahkai Folks; siblings, Bonnie Dickinson, Tyrone Harris (Paula), Charlotte Miller, Regina Purcell, Arnold Dickerson, Dorothy Green, Elois Dickerson; companion, Lawrence "Eddie" Mayo; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Emma Cephas; a grandchild, Robert Foster, nephew,  Lamar "Maurey" Boyer, Sr.; brother-in-laws, James Dickinson, Gary "Doc" Miller and Bruce Purcell.

Homegoing Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 819 Coates Street, Coatesville, PA 19320.  A viewing will be held beginning at 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM.

Interment will be in Mt. Zion AME Cemetery in Atglen, PA.
