Bernice Tucker Surratt, 97, of Coatesville, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at  the Hickory House Senior Living in Honey Brook.  Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late John and Elinor Macon Tucker.  She was the wife of  the late Leonard Surratt with whom she shared 57 years of marriage before his passing.

Bernice received her early education from the Historical James Adams School in Coatesville.   She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Coatesville where she served as an usher.

Bernice was an avid sports fan of baseball and football. She enjoyed playing chinese checkers and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter Brenda S. Johnson of Coatesville; one brother, Alfred Tucker of Coatesville; sister-in-law Jacqueline Tucker of Coatesville; 4 grandchildren: Ronda Johnson, Bonnie Washington (Darren), Anna Johnson, Myra Johnson; 8 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Bernice was preceded in death by her great-great granddaughter, Phaith Nalise Lee Edwards Johnson; grandson, Roger Johnson; son-in-law, Ronald Johnson; sisters: Doris Ford, Alsenia Williams, Ineda Wilson; brothers: John Jr., James Tucker, Chuck Tucker, Herman Tucker, William Tucker, and George Tucker.

A walk-through viewing will be held from 9:00 AM - 10 AM, Saturday, September 19, 2020 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church, 819 Coates St, Coatesville.
