IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bernice E.
(Cooper) Hurst
April 16, 1944 – June 17, 2024
Bernice Elain Cooper Hurst, 80, of Coatesville was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 17, 2024, while surrounded by her loving family, at the Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA.
Raised in Parkesburg, PA, Bernice was one of ten children born to the late Gladys (Waters) Cooper and James Cooper, Sr. She was the wife of Clinton C. Hurst.
Over the years, she worked as a nurse's assistant at Embreeville Hospital, a seamstress at the Coatesville Sewing Factory, a nurse's aide at Main Line Rehabilitation, a teacher's aide at the Chester County Intermediate Unit, and a riveter for the Budd Trailer Company.
Bernice enjoyed antique auctions, flea markets and was an avid yard sale seeker. She was a stylish dresser and was a great cook. She was a devout believer and her faith was paramount. She enjoyed taking daily walks and listening to the sounds of Oldies music and Gospel Hymns, but being with her children, grandchildren, and family was what brought her the most joy.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Donald Cooper, James Cooper, Richard Cooper, and William Cooper; sisters, Dolores Peter, Eleanor Dixon, and Joyce Dixon.
In addition to her husband, Clinton C. Hurst; Bernice is survived by her son, Maurice K. Hurst (Lynn) of Coatesville; four daughters, Leslie A. Hurst, Candace Luby (Stephan), Ina B. Hurst, and Yvette L. Hurst, all of Coatesville; two sisters, Margaret Stewart of Parkesburg, and Jacqueline London of Oxford; god-daughter, Taylor Dixon of Atglen; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her gentle spirit and kind heart will be missed by all who knew her.
A Memorial Service will be at 11 AM on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Wright Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 725 Merchant Street, Coatesville, PA. Please note: There will not be a viewing and this service will not be live-streamed.
Interment will be held privately.
