Arlene M. Holmes, affectionately known as "Honey", was born in Coatesville, Pennsylvania on December 4, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence Stanley Holmes, Sr. and Alberta Johnson Holmes.

She received her early education from the Coatesville area public schools. She attended the historic James Adams School and graduated in 1952 from Scott Area Senior High School.

Arlene worked as a licensed practical nurse at the Coatesville VA Medical Center for over 30 years. During her career, she received a number of honorable recognitions, including the 1990 Hands and Heart Award.

She was a faithful, family-oriented, feisty, loyal, and loving person who had a good sense of humor and an engaging laugh. In addition to being a devoted daughter and mother, she was an educator and family historian. She enjoyed listening to gospel music.

On Sunday, December 11, 2022 at age 89, Arlene passed away at the Hickory House Nursing Home in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania.

She is survived by her son, Todd Saundurs of Coatesville, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a companion of many years, Orion Saundurs; two brothers, Lawrence Holmes, Jr., and William Holmes; and a sister, Ernestine Ferguson.

Arlene will be deeply missed, and her memory will remain in our hearts.

Homegoing Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, December 19, 2022, at Cornerstone Fellowship, 101 Kylies Rd, Coatesville, PA with a viewing beginning at 9 AM.

Interment will be held in Union Hill Cemetery, Kennett Square.
