Obituary

Ann E. Parker Munns, 75, of West Chester, passed away, Sunday, May 29, 2016 at home. She was the daughter of the late Lida C. & George W. Parker and wife of John B. Munns aka "Poncho" with whom she shared 29 years of marriage.

Ann grew up riding bikes to Lenape Park with the crew which resulted in being grounded but she said it was all worth it! In her childhood days she resided on West Market St and enjoyed playing at Everhart park. She later moved to E. Miner Street where she spent countless hours at the West Chester Community Center, the stories from there are endless.  As hard as Ann played as a child she also loved music & loved to dance. Another hobby Ann enjoyed was knitting which she was taught at a very young age by her late Aunt Estelle and continued throughout her life.

As a young adult Ann continued to dance at the WC Armory, over top of the Star Social Club, in Coatesville, in Twin Oaks, in Chester along with The Uptown, Downtown & other places. Ann loved to go to Philly, to shop with her daughter, see the sights at holiday times, John Wanamakers, Strawbridges, Woolworth, and going to the Ice Capades. And then did the same with her granddaughter. Ann also Loved Basketball! She went to every game possible to see Chapelle & Ladell play along with traveling with our AAU team.

Ann enjoyed life to the fullest but she was also a hard worker, working from high school on. Ann worked at Grocer Store Products, West Chester State Teachers College & lastly at The Chester County Hospital. After retirement from the hospital Ann babysat & raised countless children over many years. Ann advised & mothered a lot of young people as well. Ann had an inspiring presence of nothing but love & strength.  She also had no problem letting you know exactly how see feels!

Ann always took things head on despite any challenges or fears, she even got in a plane for the first and only time to go to Disney World with her family. Strong, courageous, adventurous Mom mom aka Miss Ann enjoyed her final days surrounded by her loved ones.

She leaves precious memories to her daughter, Teresa Ann Parker, granddaughter, Tamil Menya Parker-Turner with husband Michael C. Turner aka True and two great-grandsons, Chapelle Emage' Parker-Turner aka Pelle and Ladell Idris Parker-Turner aka Dough Boy; aunt, Olethia Nelson aka Aunt Jackie; brother, George S. Parker; niece Michele, with husband Donald; two great nieces Shaneira and Raena; great-great niece, Makayla; her nieces Kisha Parker & Family and Aisha Colette Purnell & Family. Last but not least Ann is survived by a special cousin Sylvia Bartley & Family and her Sidetrack Family, too many to mention all by name but they know who they are.

In addition to her parents, Lida C. & George W. Parker, An n was preceded in death by her husband , John B. Munns aka "Poncho"; her grandmother, Ethel C. Pleasants, as well as a hosts of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins & Family f riends.
