Obituary

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the vibrant life of Andre Hughston. Born on December 15, 1966, he was the cherished son of Stanley Hughston Jr., of Baltimore, Maryland, and Karen Hughston (Sanders) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Andre was educated in the Philadelphia Public School system. After graduating from Benjamin Franklin High School, Class of 1984, he earned his Computer Science certification from the Program System Institute of Science of Philadelphia in 1986. This launched a 36-year career in large-format printing where he excelled as a print technician and held numerous positions with skill, dedication, and professionalism.

Beyond his work, Andre was known for something far greater—his spirit. He was humorous, brilliant, charismatic, and could light up any room he entered. Family and fun were at the center of his heart. Whether cracking a joke, sharing wisdom, or closing down the dance floor on Water Street, Andre had a way of making every gathering brighter. He was the soundtrack, the energy, and often the unforgettable highlight of the night.

In 2012, Andre dedicated his life to Christ and was baptized at Bethel Deliverance International Church. With his signature greeting of "Praise the Lord aka PTL," he served the Kingdom with passion and consistency—never halfway, always all-in. He served in the Homeless Ministry, Street Team, Joshua Ministry, the Deacon Board, Men's Prayer Team, and Men's Ministry, sharing the gospel with conviction and compassion. In 2021, Andre joined Power in the Cross Ministries, where he continued serving and winning souls for Christ. While serving he met the love of his life Earlene, and in 2023, the two joined their lives and families in a beautiful union blessed by God. His other hobbies included fishing, hanging with the boys, and being "Pop-pop" to his grandchildren.

During these years, Andre expanded on his passion for contracting and handyman work. Together with his son Braheem and business partner Curtis Benson, he poured his heart into Hallelujah Hammers, finding fulfillment in rebuilding homes, supporting the community, and creating opportunities for others. His hands worked hard, but his heart worked harder.

Andre spent his final months surrounded by powerful prayers, heartfelt visits, and the embrace of countless loved ones whose lives he touched. His impact was immeasurable—felt in every laugh he inspired, every life he encouraged, and every soul he helped bring closer to GOD.

On November 29, 2025, Andre made his heavenly transition after a life lived with laughter, purpose, and unwavering faith. Andre was welcomed into eternity by his father, Stanley Hughston Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Gloria Smith (Sanders) and John Smith; his paternal grandparents, Stanley Hughston, Sr., and Ernestine Hughston and his brother, Antonio Hughston. He now joins them with joy, peace, and that unforgettable smile.

Left to carry forward his legacy of love is his devoted wife, Earlene Hughston (Vincent); his mother Karen Hughston; his sister Shukura Hughston, his children; Braheem Brown, Andrea' Freeman, LaTretta Gibson, Ashley Hughston; his stepsons Keon Frank and Kairi Haynes; and his bonus daughter, Chaisa Childs. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Brandon Brown, Kaylah Frank, Braelynn Hughston, Kaia and Kaidin Haynes, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and lifelong friends who adored him.

Though he will be deeply missed, Andre leaves behind a legacy of joy, faith, service, and love. He lived fully, loved generously, and danced boldly. His light remains, shining in everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

Well done, good and faithful servant.
