IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Adrienne C.
King
November 22, 1958 – September 22, 2025
It is with deep sadness that the family of Adrienne Christina King, affectionately known as "Agie," announces her unexpected passing into eternal rest at the age of 66 on Monday afternoon, September 22, 2025, at her residence.
Born in Coatesville, PA, on November 22, 1958, Adrienne graduated from Coatesville Area High School with a focus in cosmetology. She earned her beautician certification from Wilfred Beauty Academy and furthered her education by obtaining her teacher's and instructor's license in 1978.
Adrienne's professional journey was one of passion, dedication, and entrepreneurship. She began as the manager of Soul Scissors Salon in Philadelphia, PA, and later opened a salon in her home. Her skills, business acumen, and unwavering determination culminated in the founding of her own salon, "Bedazzled," in the heart of downtown Coatesville. As one community member shared, "Adrienne was a pioneer whose work laid the foundation for Black hairstylists in Chester County."
Adrienne's salon became more than just a place for beauty—it was a vibrant hub of culture and community. She organized fashion shows, Mother's Day hair events, nail care stations, and sold an array of beauty products—sometimes even ordering lunch for her clients. Known for her high street hair design and knack for enhancing the inner and outer beauty of others, Adrienne left an indelible mark on her community and profession.
Outside of her career, Adrienne enjoyed uplifting young women, collecting artwork, and watching movies. A true fashionista, she was known for her love of makeup, nail design, sequins, bright colors, and of course, leopard prints and fur coats. Her bold fashion sense was matched only by her sense of humor, joyful spirit, and her deep, unshakable faith in the Lord.
Adrienne's generosity, loyalty, and kind spirit defined her. She was deeply devoted to her family and especially cherished time with her mother, siblings, and extended family. She beamed with pride when speaking about her beloved son, Lance, and her grandsons, Markell and Desmond. She was "over the moon" watching them succeed in their academic and athletic pursuits.
Adrienne leaves behind her devoted son, Lance Norris, and her cherished grandsons, Markell Lance Norris and Desmond Angel Ortiz. She is survived by her mother, Evelyn King-Butler, Also surviving are her brothers, Reverend Richard Allan King, Jr., Clyde Wesley King, and Darren Lamont Butler; and her sisters, Carmen M. Davis of Virginia (brother-in-law Rev. James M. Davis, Jr.), Sharon M. Washington (brother-in-law Reginald Washington, Sr.) and Victoria Ellison. Adrienne also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Allen King Sr., stepfather, Clyde Lorenzo Butler and sister, Veronica Fiorentino sister-in-law Pamela Marie King.
Adrienne's closest lifelong friends, China (Alicia) Ellison and Sandra Phillips-Duncan, have offered great comfort to the family, sharing treasured memories from their childhood and lifelong bond.
