Ronald Leroy Gallimore "Snap", 82, of Downingtown, PA, formerly of West Chester, PA, passed away Saturday, November 23, at Chester County Hospital in West Chester.
Snap, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, was born in West Chester to the late Marion Gallimore and Elmer Lawrence. He was the husband of Karen Michelle (Hilton) Gallimore.
He was a graduate of West Chester High School (now Henderson), after which he attended college studying Criminal Justice.
He served in the U.S. Army as a private first class during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge in 1958.
Snap worked at the Chester County Prison in West Chester, for many years where he served as a prison guard, and a cook. After retiring from the Chester County Prison, he was employed by the West Chester Day Care where he joyfully served as a cook. He enjoyed going to the Delaware Park and Casino. Mostly, Snap found joy in caring for the children at the West Chester Day Care. Every Thanksgiving he cooked a feast for the kids, who lovingly referred to him as "Pop Pop". The kids, as well as the adults, loved his green beans and potato salad.
He leaves cherished memories to his wife; Karen; ten children; one grandson, Kyle Boyer; one brother, Gene Gallimore and his wife Christina of Coatesville, PA; two sisters, Judy Spann and Barbara Bowles, other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service in Snap's memory will be held 12 noon, Saturday, December 14, 2019, at the West Chester Community Center (Gymnasium), 501 East Miner Street, West Chester, PA 19382, until 3:00 PM.
