Norwood E. Bowman

Norwood Eugene Bowman, "Gene" , 77, of Coatesville passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017.  

Norwood Eugene Bowman, “Gene”, 77, went home to be with the Lord at his home. Born in Coatesville, the son of the late Horace Henry Bowman and Laura Gertrude Henry Bowman.  

Gene was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy Stewart Bowman with whom he shared fifteen years of marriage. He served in the US Army seven years until he was honorably discharged.
Gene was employed most of his life as a truck driver  by A. Duie Pyle and Allied Moving Company.

He enjoyed watching westerns like Bonanza, High Chaparral, Daniel Boone, and Cheyenne. He also enjoyed watching sports, baseball, basketball, and football. His favorite song was “O’ Lord I want you to help me”

Gene is survived by four children: Dawn Shelton (Douglas C. Gray) and Marie Boyd (Phillip) both of Coatesville PA, Marie Stewart and Marian Stewart both of Jacksonville, NC; one sister, Henrietta Shockley (David) of Coatesville, PA; 27 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; two special nieces, Chicqueta Butcher and Shyra Joseph who cared for him; one special nephew, William “Curtis” Shockley with whom he resided and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and additional family and friends.

Gene was preceded in death by three brothers: James Bowman, Clarence Bowman and Theodore Bowman; three sisters, Nellie Joseph, Ola Craig and Ida Mae Bowman.
