Helen Edna Washington, 94, of Coatesville, PA went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Pocopson Home in West Chester, PA.
A life-long resident of Coatesville, Helen was the daughter of the late Edward W. Brunson and Mary Miller Brunson. She was the wife of the late David R. Washington with whom she shared 35 years of marriage until his passing in 1981.
Helen worked as a seamstress in Philadelphia for many years. She specialized in sewing men's clothing while working at Botony 500, and Nimblestiens.
She was a faithful member of the First Seventh Day Adventist in Coatesville. She attended Bible Study, prayer meeting and enjoyed studying the scriptures. She was a member of the Interdenominational Church Ushers Association of Chester County. In the community, she served with the Bridge of Hope Ministries and sang in the Coatesville Community Gospel Music Workshop until her health began to fail.
Helen enjoyed sewing, cooking, and solving word search puzzles. Most of she enjoyed traveling especially with her sisters and with the ushers.
Helen is survived by a daughter, Nadine (Laverne) Taylor of Parkesburg; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, her church family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David R. Washington; two sons, Daryl D. Washington, Dyrk R. Washington; two sisters, Ruby Tilghman, and Catherine Wilson.
Homegoing Services will be held 11 AM, Friday, June 14, 2019, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 200 West Lincoln Highway, Coatesville, PA. A viewing will be held from 9 AM to 10:45 AM.
Interment will be held privately.
