George Tucker, 89, of Coatesville, PA departed this life Monday, August 19, 2019 at the Brandywine Hospital. Born in Coatesville, PA, he was the son of the late Elnora (Macon) and John Tucker.
George attended the Historic James Adams Elementary School and graduated from the Coatesville Area School District. A US Army veteran, George served two years until he was honorably discharged. In December of 1953 he married Anna Smith Tucker with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. She and George were married by the late Rev. Younger. Through that union came four daughters: Teresa, Jennifer, Cathy and Angela.
George worked as a nurse's aide at the Coatesville VA Hospital until he retired after 36 years.
He was a faithful member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Coatesville, PA. Over the years he served as a Trustee, and as the church sexton.
George enjoyed drawing, carpentry, and vegetable gardening. One of his favorite sayings was "Be careful how you treat people." He would also say, "You gotta whether the storm."
In addition to his wife Anna, George was preceded in death by sisters: Doris Ford, Alsenia Williams, Ineda Wilson; brothers: James Tucker, Chuck Tucker, William Tucker and Herman Tucker.
Left to cherish fond memories are his daughters: Teresa Mohammed of Georgia, Jennifer Trevino (Raul) of North Carolina, Cathy Koon (Grover), and Angela Tucker all of Coatesville; brother, Alfred Tucker of Coatesville; sister, Bernice Surratt of Coatesville; five grandchildren: Tiffany (Shawn), Timothy (Ullie), Rashan, Amber (Herbert) and Brittany; nine great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, David Williams; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Tucker and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 819 Coates Street, Coatesville, PA. There will be a viewing beginning at 9:00 AM.
Interment will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, 1008 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA.
