Dowoun Phillips, 61, of Coatesville, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA.
Born in Coatesville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Stanley R. Cole and Morissline Pernsley. She was the wife of Roland C. Phillips.
Dowoun was a graduate of Coatesville Area Senior High School. Over the years, she worked as a Nursing Assistant at Embreeville State Hospital and the Norristown State Hospital.
She was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, watching television, reading books, being with her family and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Dowoun was preceded in death by three brothers, Michael Ferguson, Curtis Pernsley and Larry Ferguson.
Dowoun is survived by her husband, Roland C. Phillips of Coatesville; sons, Kenneth Cole and Marcus Cole both of Coatesville; brothers, Stanley Pernsley (Shirley "Cricket") of Coatesville, Kevin Ferguson (Carmen), Ira Ferguson (Rita) of Fayetteville, NC; sister, Violet A. Cole, Naomi Rayner (Michael), Tracy Sellers (Harry III) all of Coatesville and Wanda Cole of Lancaster, PA; 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, May 24, 2019, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 819 Coates Street, Coatesville, PA, with a viewing beginning at 9:00 AM.
Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
Flowers may be sent directly to the church on the morning of the service.
