Demetra M. Dodson-Loper

Demetra Monique Dodson-Loper, 42, of West Chester, spread her wings and flew home to be with the Lord  on July 9, 2019.

Demetra, daughter of Lena M. Dodson and Alton B. Loper (Myrna), was born and raised in West Chester where she spent most of her life. She attended West Chester Schools. Dee, #fighting like a girl, attended Cheney University after graduating from East High School. She started working as a class aide and later worked for WCASD administration.

Dee was a member of St. Paul AME Church and was baptized at an early age. Dee sang on the junior choir, helped with the Sunday School children and was a junior usher.

Dee which is what she liked to be called, had such a beautiful spirit, she made friends wherever she went which is how she earned the nickname of “social butterfly” in kindergarten. Dee had a loving heart and was always willing to help whenever she could. Family and friends were very important to her.

Dee was preceded in death by her son, Joseph A. Thomas, Maternal grandparents Sara JPF Dodson, George E. Dodson Sr. and paternal grandparents Rosetta E. Loper, Benjamin J Loper, Jr.

Dee leaves to mourn besides her parents, her Godmother Frances D. Reason, Godfather James H. Loper; sons, John T. Gaffney Jr, Jayden E. Thomas, Jeremiah M. Thomas of West Chester, PA; daughter, Patricia Mariama Clark of Maryland; brothers, Edward J. Brown of Wagontown, PA, Alton Loper Briscoe of Chester, PA; sisters, LaRita Hunter (Febus) of West Chester, PA,  Lisa Loper, Brittney Loper of Chester, PA and a host of great aunts & great uncles, aunts & uncles, cousins as well as her extended family and friends. 

Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Friday, July 19  2019 at the Church of the Good Samaritan, 212 West Lancaster Ave in Paoli, PA.  A viewing will be held from 8:30 AM until the service time.

Interment will be in Philadelphia Memorial Park in Frazer, PA. Condolences for the family may be shared using the online guest book.
