Amy L. Gibbs

Amy Lenora Gibbs, 96, of Ercildoun PA, died at home Sunday September 3, 2017.  Born in Ercildoun, she was the daughter of the late Clarence A. Smith Sr. and Ophelia Pennington Smith. She was the wife of the late William Richard Gibbs with whom she shared forty-six years of marriage until his passing in 1987.
Amy worked for many years as a Supply Clerk at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Coatesville, PA. 
She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Ercildoun.
Amy loved to read, especially the Bible. In addition to that, she loved solving puzzles, figuring out Cryptograms and making the numbers work on a Sudoki grid. Family was important to her and though she had no children of her own, she loved being in the company of her nieces and nephews and at family gatherings.  
Amy is survived by her siblings, Sarah Searles of Coatesville, PA, John W. Smith of Hopkins of South Carolina, Anthony Spencer of Coatesville and Carl Johnson (Hazel) of Baltimore, Maryland; sisters in law Beatrice Smith and Janice Solen and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was predeceased by her brothers Clarence A. Smith, Jr., and William G. Solen, Sr.
Services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday Sept 12, 2017 at The Church of Christ, 750 Doe Run Rd., Coatesville, PA 19320. At her request, there will not be a public viewing, however friends may greet the family from 10 AM to 11 AM.
Interment will be at the Church of Christ Cemetery in Ercildoun.
