Stanley "Hussey" Alston Obituary

Stanley R. "Hussey" Alston, 72, of Coatesville, PA passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Chester County Hospital, in West Chester.

Born in Coatesville, PA, he was the son of Alberta Jennings Alston and the late Harvey Lenzie Alston. Stanley was the beloved husband of Loretta Wilson Alston with whom he shared 22 years of marriage.

He was a proud graduate of Coatesville Area Senior High School in 1970.  Stanley attended the majority of his class reunions.  He played football for the Red Raiders from 1968-1970.  He was also a member of the indoor/outdoor track team where he received the MVP award in 1970.  After high school, he matriculated into Kutztown University from 1970-1972.  Stanley was involved in community organizational activities for a number of years.  His love for children and zest for discipline and structure is a key to his motivation.  Stanley was affiliated with "Coatesville Midget League Football" for over 38 years where he was affectionately known as "Coach Huss".  In the past, he assisted in organizing the Summer League basketball program at Coatesville Community Center.  Stanley also received an award from the Coatesville Community Center for "youth involvement.  Stanley has also volunteered with the Coatesville High School boys and girls track teams.

His professional life was marked by a dedication to service, as he worked as a Facilities Maintenance Manager at Embreeville State Hospital for 22 years. His career also saw him contributing to the former Lukens Steel Company and offering care at Brian's House, showcasing his versatile skills and big heart.

Beyond his accomplishments, Stanley found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid bowler, a member of the Friendship Bowling League, an enthusiastic viewer of "The Wizard of Oz" and "King Kong," and a lover of music that undoubtedly was the soundtrack of his life's journey. He enjoyed going to the Berks Jazz Festival, rejoiced in the excitement of the Penn Relays, and cheered at the championships at Penn State.  Stanley was an associate member of the VFW in Downingtown, where he looked forward to spending his Sunday evenings listening to the oldies.  Everyone looked forward to his arrival.

Stanley was a long-time member of Ebenezer Full Gospel Baptist Church in Downingtown, joining under the Pastorship of Overseer James Harris.  He served his church well and was a faithful former member of the Trustee Board as well as a faithful and devoted member of the Usher Board (Doorkeepers).
