Hubert G. Amory

Hubert G. Amory, of Coatesville, PA, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA. He was 79 years old.

Hubert was born in Gingerland, Nevis, to parents, Gwyneth Brown (Amory) and Leonard Taylor on June 18th, 1944. He was one of four siblings, including his sister, Millicent Amory, and brothers Alton Pemberton and Philip Taylor. Hubert spoke fondly of his time growing up in the Caribbean, on the beautiful island of Nevis, and it was there where he accepted Jesus as his Savior over fifty years ago. This was a major life event that he was extremely proud of.

After accepting Jesus into his life, Hubert began attending the Wesleyan Holiness Church for several years in Gingerland. In 1987, he migrated to the United States where he then married Joyce Amory (Phillip), who is also from the island of Nevis.

During their thirty-six years of marriage, the Lord blessed them with two daughters, Sabrina, and Candice. Along with his family, Hubert attended Trinity Assembly of God church in West Chester, PA for nearly thirty years where he participated in the choir and the prayer ministry during his fellowship at the church.

In Nevis, Hubert spent time working as a postman with his stepfather, Lionel Brown. Then, Hubert moved to Nevis’ sister island of St. Kitts, where he worked at the Power Station for several years. Once in the United States, he spent time working as a shift manager and then he worked at Echo Data where he retired after sixteen years.

Hubert was a man who loved the Lord. He was a prayer warrior, a provider, and also had a witty sense of humor. He enjoyed going to church and found great joy in listening to, and reading the Word.

He loved to watch sports, football, and baseball, with his favorite sports being cricket, tennis, and soccer. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially while enjoying delicious food and music together.

Even while experiencing hardships and sickness, Hubert continued to praise the Lord for His greatness, His faithfulness, and His mercy to us.

Hubert will be missed by his loved ones, but we can rejoice that he is with the Lord and is not suffering anymore. Hubert is survived by his wife, and daughters, along with a host of family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Wright Funeral & Cremation Services, 725 Merchant Street, Coatesville, Pennsylvania. Visitation with the family will be held from 3:00 PM until the time of the service.
