Stephanie Iris Bookman Cannon, 59, of Coatesville, peacefully passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018, at her residence.
Born in Coatesville, she was the second of seven children born to the late James I. Bookman, Sr. and Victoria Porter Bookman. She was the wife of the late Carl M. "Cook" Cannon, Jr. with whom she shared 18 years of marriage.
Stephanie grew up on Lumber & Chestnut Streets. She received her early education in the Coatesville Area School District. She worked as a Nurse’s Assistant at the Coatesville VA Medical Center for 15 years.
Stephanie was baptized at Tabernacle Baptist Church and later became a faithful member of the Hutchinson Memorial U.A.M.E. Church in Coatesville, PA. She enjoyed serving in the church. A couple of her favorite songs were, “I Am Redeemed” and “I’m Free”. She also enjoyed decorating for Christmas, giving gifts to all of the family for Christmas and Shopping…Shopping…Shopping!
She leaves to cherish her memories: sons, Lamar E. Bookman, Carl M. (Monique) Cannon, III both of Coatesville; daughter, Almetra Bookman of Coatesville; sisters: Darlene Bookman, Iris (Reginald) Holmes both of Coatesville, Beverly (René) Parker of Parkesburg; brothers: James (Denise) Bookman, Bryant (Tammy) Bookman, Albert (Cathy) Bookman; 6 grandchildren: Quamir Bookman, Zion Bookman, Zaria Bookman, Carlise Cannon-Nixon, Carmoni Cannon, Carl Cannon, IV, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Stephanie will be remembered for her sweet, quiet, caring spirit! We celebrate her life and her memory holds a special place in our hearts.
Services will be held at 10 AM on Sat., February 3, 2018 at Hutchinson Memorial U.A.M.E. Church, 825 E. Chestnut Street, Coatesville, with a viewing at 8 AM.
Interment will be held in Rolling Green Memorial Park, West Chester.
