Reatha M. Tucker, 79, of Coatesville, PA, passed away at home on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. Born in Hartsville, South Carolina she was the daughter of the late Rev. James Wilson, Sr. and Georgianna Mumford Wilson. She was the wife of Alfred Tucker.
Reatha accepted Christ at an early age and joined Kay Branch Baptist Church in Hartsville, South Carolina where she was a faithful member. She enjoyed using her gift to sing on the Kay Branch Junior Choir. Additionally, she went on with a few siblings and friends to sing for the Lord in a quartet traveling group called the United Gospel Singers. When Reatha moved to Philadelphia, she continued her spiritual fellowship at the Beulah Baptist Church where she immediately went to work on the kitchen committee. When Reatha made her home in Coatesville, her first priority was to find a church home. She became a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist church where she sang with the Senior Choir for many years and was on the Mothers Board and Pastors Aid Committees.
For 30 years, Reatha worked at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood, PA in the Central Supply Unit until she retired. After her retirement, she worked at the Downingtown Area School District where she worked in the cafeteria, and at times, she also worked as a hall monitor. Reatha loved to cook and enjoyed helping to prepare nutritious meals for the staff and students. Reatha had a way with the students and earned their respect with her smile and words of wisdom.
Reatha truly loved the Lord with all her heart and soul and was a faithful believer in the love of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Reatha was quiet and soft spoken, but her words were powerful. She was a joyful person and loved people. Reatha was an exceptional listener, you could talk to her about anything and she would listen and help you in any way she could without any judgment. Reatha would help anyone when asked, and would give her last dime to help them with a smile and kind words to follow.
Reatha was a devoted and loving mother. Reatha gave unconditional love to all her children and nurtured them dearly. She raised her children to love the Lord as she did. She was very proud of her family and was excited of all her children’s accomplishments. Becoming a grandmother and great-grandmother sent her over the moon. Reatha loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was her greatest joy. Reatha will be terribly missed by all that loved and knew her.
She leaves to cherish these precious memories, her beloved husband Alfred Tucker of Coatesville; sons, Milton A. Greene, Eugene Greene (Moydoila Mercer), Russell Greene (Tammy) all of Philadelphia; daughter, Anita P. Harris (Donte) of Bear, DE; her sisters: Minnie Smith, of Philadelphia, PA, Millie Jackson (Ernest), Anna Thompson (Eugene) both of Hartsville, SC, Dorothy Patrick of Boston, MA; her brothers, John Wilson, Franklin (Kathleen) Wilson both of Hartsville, SC; Step Son, Alfred Tucker (Tammy) of Columbus, IN; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
