Nona B. Hill, 80, of Coatesville, PA, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at  home.

Nona was born in Atlanta, Georgia on October 3, 1936 to the late William and Ruby Wyatt.  She departed this life on May 11, 2017.  Nona was educated in the public-school system in Atlanta, Georgia and was a proud graduate of the Booker T. Washington High School.  In 1961, she moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she met and married her husband of forty-seven years, James L. Hill, III.  She was employed as a Sales Associate for the 5&10 Store in Atlanta, Georgia; Jack and Jill Shoppe and Woolworth Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for over twenty-five years before retiring to raise her granddaughters.

Nona was the consummate caregiver. She adored her children and checked in on her family and friends each and every day with a phone call or sometimes two.  She loved watching CNN and her favorite soap operas, “General Hospital” and “The Young and the Restless”.  Nona was well versed on the news of the day and political affairs. She was a staunch believer in education and exercising her right to vote. Before she passed, she was insistent that she had to vote in the last election because she wanted to ensure a future for her grandchildren and for the betterment of America.

She was a proud member of Christian Faith Fellowship Church in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Nona was known for her exuberant smile, charming spirit and charitable nature. She loved her family and her daughter’s cats. She was a devoted Christian and believed in the Lord and held strong to her faith.

A proud Southern belle, Nona always held her head high and carried herself with grace and an internal beauty that all could see. She loved getting her hair done and keeping her red locks pressed and styled.  All those who came in contact with Nona knew that they had met someone special. It is for this reason that the Lord called her home after a long health battle that she fought with great spirit and tenacity. Nona or “Miss Nona”, as she was often affectionately referred to leaves to cherish countless beautiful memories.

Celebrating her life, rejoicing in her Home Going, she leaves: two devoted daughters, Veronica Hill-Milbourne and Valicia "Lisa" Shields; two sons in laws, Dr. Michael Milbourne and Donald E. Shields, Jr; and her two loving granddaughters, Christina H. Milbourne and Elizabeth K. Milbourne. She is also survived by one remaining sister, Hammie Lou Wyatt, two brothers, Hugh Wyatt and Lucious Wyatt, and an array of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Nona will be truly missed by her family and many friends.

Sorrowfully,

The Family
