The Obituary

Michelle Lynette Johnson, born March 23, 1960, was the daughter of the late Frank L. Johnson, Sr., and Barbara A. Tooles Johnson. She was affectionately known as Suggie by her family and friends.

Suggie received her early education within the Coatesville Area School District. In high school, she was active in track and field. In her youth, she could out run everyone in the neighborhood. A graduate of CASH, Suggie was a proud alumnus in the class of 1978. 

Over the years, she was employed at the former Gagliardis in West Chester as a fork lift operator. She also worked in the Downingtown High School Cafeteria and later as a one-on-one aide for the Coatesville Area School District.

Suggie loved attending cabarets, dancing and having a good time.  She created dance moves like the “Rubber Leg” and the “Matrix”. Boy, did she love to dance. She was the Life of the Party especially at her Class Reunions.  Though she did not drive, those going to the reunion made sure to get her there.

She enjoyed Crossword Puzzles and listening to music. Suggie enjoyed watching game shows; some of her favorites were ‘The Price is Right’ and ‘Family Feud’ and Court Room shows such as: The People’s Court, Judge Judy, Judge Mathis and Hot Bench. Her Sunday mornings would consist of her watching Gospel Music on the Ty Tribbett program “Joyful Noise”. 

In the community, she served as a volunteer at the Soup Kitchen held at Hutchinson UAME Church. She also participated as a model at the Annual Missionary Fashion Show at the First Baptist Church of Passtown.  Suggie had a nickname for almost everyone and spent a lot of time with her family, close friends and neighbors.

On Sunday May 28, 2017 Suggie passed away peacefully at the Paoli Memorial Hospital in Paoli, PA. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Justis M. Johnson, and brother-in-law, Ronald Hoggard.

She leaves to cherish memories to her sons; Stephen Johnson and Sean “Pree” Johnson and his companion Ayanna A. Bowman all of Coatesville, PA; her daughters: Stephanie “Shar” Johnson and Jaszman A. Johnson both of Coatesville, PA; her brothers, Phillip A. Johnson, Maurice Johnson both of Philadelphia, PA, Frank L. Johnson, Jr. (Milicent) of Killeen, TX, Sean L. Johnson of Coatesville, PA; her sisters, Yvonne Hoggard of East Fallowfield, PA and Sharon D. Johnson of Philadelphia, PA; a close cousin, Theodore Johnson of Lebanon, PA; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
