The Obituary

The beautiful Margaree Wilson peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Neighborhood Hospice Facility in West Chester surrounded by loving family and friends.

She was born in Evergreen, Alabama, to the late Ida Bell Stallworth and Wilton Suggs on January 10, 1939. One of seven children, she grew up and was educated in Century, Florida.

After graduation, Margaree ventured North to Pennsylvania to be with her sister Mary Alice.  Her intention was to proceed on to New York, but she was side tracked after meeting the hard working Laddie Wilson, who migrated North from Bishopville, South Carolina, in pursuit of a better future. Before long, Margaree changed her plans; she and Laddie united in marriage on March 28, 1959, in a modest, private ceremony. The couple settled in South Coatesville and began their life journey together. God blessed their union with three children, Barbara Ann, Ricky, and David. Step son Larry Wilson was raised in South Carolina.

As Margaree poured her energy into building her marriage and family, she worked as chief cook in the dietary department of Coatesville (now Brandywine) Hospital.  While at Brandywine, she received recognition for her service to community programs and events such as Meals on Wheels and the Strawberry Festival.  She retired from Brandywine Hospital after 40 years of service.

Known as an excellent cook, she expressed her love by preparing and sharing delectable meals. On Sundays, she hosted huge family dinners for her children, their families and friends. There was always room at her table where she dished up acceptance, nurturing and love along with her numerous signature dishes such as banana pudding and macaroni and cheese.

In addition to cooking, she was an avid bowler, bowling with the Friendship League. A humble individual, she worked for years behind the scenes planning and assisting as a member of the James Family Reunion Committee, making the annual reunion an enjoyable event. She and her husband enjoyed traveling with a group of couples and friends, cruising to Europe, Spain, Hawaii, Alaska, as well as several Caribbean and Mediterranean islands.

Margaree accepted Christ as her Savior while carrying her son, Ricky, and was a member of Union Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Joseph.  At Union Baptist, now New Life in Christ Fellowship, Margaree employed her culinary skills and love for people as a member of the hospitality ministry preparing delicious meals at various church functions. In later years, she prepared lunches for students enrolled in the church's educational program. In earlier years, she was a member and soloist in both the Senior and Halleluiah Choirs.

Although she remained a devoted member of New Life in Christ Fellowship, she was an honorary member of Christian Faith Fellowship of Downingtown, pastored by her son Ricky. Despite the challenges of illness, she faithfully supported both churches seated at her husband's side.

Truly a woman of quiet strength, sweet disposition and practical wisdom; her unwavering faith in God, love for His Word, and belief in the power of prayer carried her through the most difficult trials of her life.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sister, Mary Alice Franklin, brothers William, Joseph, and Clausell Suggs, and grandson, Michael J. Wilson.

Margaree leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 57 years, Laddie Wilson; her children: daughter, Barbara Ann Wilson of Chester Springs, sons: Ricky Wilson(Shirley) of Downingtown, David Wilson(Valerie) of Coatesville; step son  Larry Wilson (Almeta) of Bethune, SC; sisters: Jewell White(Roosevelt) of Buffalo, NY, and Barbara Chisley of Century, FL; four grandchildren: Philip, Kerri, Tanya and Brandon Wilson;  a special nephew, Terry Franklin of Coatesville, and a host of beloved family and friends.
