James “Mugs” Depte, Jr., 59, of Coatesville, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at his home. He was the son of the late James and Ortan Depte.  He was the husband of Crystal Hamilton Depte with whom he shared 18 years of marital bliss.

James retired from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in King of Prussia, PA after 29 years of dedicated service. He was later employed as a Building Engineer with JCI and CBRE providing contractor services for GSK.

James loved spending time with family and friends.  He enjoyed watching sports (especially football), listening to music, watching movies, telling jokes and traveling around the world.

James loved the Lord with all of his heart, soul, mind and strength.  He was a faithful member of the Sharon Baptist Church in Philadelphia PA, for twenty-two years.  At Sharon, he served on the Usher Board, and participated in the Men’s Empowerment Hour.  James enjoyed listening, studying, and reading God’s word.  James was a man of strong and unwavering faith.  He referred to the Bible as the “Playbook for Life”. His spiritual walk was secure. John 3:16 was James’ favorite Scripture.

In addition to his wife, James leaves to cherish his memories, God-sent parents Vonnie and Delores Hamilton, brothers and sisters: Corinthian (Marvine), Larry (LaVerne), Pamela, Craig (Diane), Cory, Cindy (Arthur), Caressa, Candice (Raheim), Christopher and Carl (Alvarie), as well as a great number of other relatives and beloved friends. James was preceded in death by one brother, Timothy.

Services celebrating his life will be held at 10 am, Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Second Baptist Worship Center, 857 Lumber Street, Coatesville, PA.  A viewing will be held from 8 am until 9:45 am.

Committal Service and Entombment with Military Honors will be held in Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer, PA.
