James L Burch

James Leonard "Cabbage" Burch, Sr. 91, of Coatesville died, Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at the Brandywine Hall Nursing Home in West Chester.

He was the son of the late Thomas Burch and Anna Boston Boddy.  He was the husband of Helen V. Harvey Burch. 

Born in Coatesville he attended the James Adams School.  Mr. Burch was affectionately known as "Cabbage" by his family and friends.  

He had been employeed as a nurse's aide at Embreeville Hospital.  He also worked several years at the VA Hospital in Coatesville, then later became employed as a train conductor at Lukens until he retired.

He enjoyed fishing, sports, and refereeing basketball.  He loved to dance and listen to jazz.

He was preceded in death by a son James Burch, Jr. who passed away in 1996.

He is survived by his wife, Helen V. Burch and on son Ron Burch, Sr. and his wife Marilyn of Coatesville; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren and a special niece Gloria Grooms of Philadelphia and a host of other relatives and friends.
