Dorothy L. Griffin, 87, of Lansdale, PA., passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at home.Born in Winston-Salem, NC., she was the daughter of the late Earleen Woods Richards.
Over the years, Dorothy had been employed as a Roving Inspector General at the Philco Ford Company, where she had worked for 32 years. She had also worked for the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Dorothy found time as well, in her busy life, to work for a funeral home as a hairdresser.
Dorothy was a member of the Montco Bible Fellowship in Lansdale, PA., were she served as an usher and greeter. She was also the "Mother of the Church".
A woman full of life, she was an avid bowler, and loved to travel to places such as Egypt, Greece, and Aruba, to name a few. Having an entrepreneurial spirit, she sold purses, wigs, perfumes and leather products. She was quite a business woman, and had an eye for design, as she had designed her own home prior to it being built. She is also remembered as having a "green thumb" when it came to gardening. Yet with all that she had accomplished, her proudest moments in life were the births of her three children, daughters Tracenia and Codine, and son John.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory, two daughters, Tracenia Woods of Lansdale, PA., E. Codine Jackson of Lithonia, GA, and one son John Howard and his wife Sandy, of Coatesville, PA, 16 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren, one brother Robert Woods and wife Cherry, of Detroit, MI., many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by a brother, Sonny Woods, sister, Olivia Freeman, and a grandson, Teman Jackson.
Services will be held at 11 am, Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Montco Bible Fellowship, 160 East Main Street, Lansdale, PA. Friends are invited to a viewing beginning at 10 am.
