Chester L. Ward, 92, of Coatesville passed away on Tuesday, June 21 at Brandywine Hospital. Born in Wilson County, North Carolina, he was one of seven siblings born of the late James and Nina Newsome Ward.
He was educated within the Public School System of North Carolina.  Mr. Ward enlisted in the United States Army in 1943. He received several medals for his valiant efforts including the European African Middle Eastern Campaign medal with three bronze stars. Mr. Ward faithfully served during World War II until he was honorably discharged in 1946.
After returning from the War, He later met and married Rheba Davis Ward. Together they shared sixty four years of marriage.
Chester lived on Coates Street in Coatesville, Pa for most of his life. He worked for the former Lukens Steel Company and retired after twenty years of service. He later worked as the “Newspaper Man” in the mornings in his local area.
Mr. Ward loved the simple things in life. He took pleasure in doing yard work, gardening and listening to Jazz on the radio. He enjoyed watching TV shows especially western movies, Bonanza, and Family Feud.  He could always be found with his remote in his hand. He enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams too, including the Cleveland Browns and the Philadelphia Phillies.
Chester passed away June 21, 2016 at age 92. He was preceded in death by all of his siblings; four sisters, Bessie Best, Lessie Mae Little, Lelia Artis, Emma Kyle; two brothers, James Ward and Charles Ward.
Chester leaves wonderful memories to his wife Rheba, who fondly calls him a “good man”; his daughter Priscilla Lane Phillips; his granddaughter, April Denise Phillips both of Coatesville.
Services will be held 10 am Friday, July 1, 2016 at the funeral home. Viewing will begin at 8 am. Interment with military honors will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. 
Condolences may be left using the condolence tab. Flowers can be sent to the funeral home on Thursday and on the service day.
